Civil Society in Palestine

Palestinian civil society is vibrant and diverse and is a central contributor to social stability and political life within Palestine. Civil society organisations range from health and medical foundations, legal organisations, professional societies, research institutes, education institutions and organisations, community clubs, environmental initiatives, political parties, human rights organisations and religious bodies.  Here is a small sample of Palestinian civil society.

ARIJ's mission is promoting sustainable development in the occupied Palestinian territories and the self-reliance of the Palestinian people through greater control over their natural resources. Specifically, the institute aims to augment the local stock of scientific and technical knowledge and to introduce and devise more efficient methods of resource utilization and conservation, improved practices, and appropriate technology.

In addition, ARIJ produces research on the actions of Israel in the occupied territories in the areas of land and resource seizure, home demolitions and settlement building, through its internal research unit, POICA.
