Permanent Observer of Palestine to the UN

The Permanent Observer Mission of Palestine to the United Nations
is the diplomatic representation of Palestine to the United Nations.

The Palestinian Liberation Organisation was recognised by the UN as the representative of the Palestinian people and invited to participate in the deliberations of the General Assembly on the Question of Palestine in plenary meetings. Following this, on 22 November 1974, the General Assembly granted observer status to the PLO and the PLO established a permanent observer mission at U.N. headquarters in New York and in Geneva.

The Permanent Mission is headed by His Excellency Dr Riyad Mansour. The Office of the Permanent Observer Mission produces a range of excellent information material on work within the UN in relationship to Palestine, accessible via the Permanent Observer Mission website at: http://www.un.int/wcm/content/site/palestine/pid/11529
