The UN Day for Solidarity with the Palestinian People observed in Canberra

The United Nation Information Center in cooperation with the Palestinian Embassy and Council of Arab Ambassadors has celebrated the UN Day for the Solidarity with the Palestinian People in Canberra on December 2/2016.

 The guiding theme of the Day, this year, was education in Palestine and in particular the educational services of UNRWA to the Palestinian refugees. 

The Day has included many activities such as a fabulous Fashion Show of the Palestinian Costume, photo exhibition of the Educational services to the Palestinian refugees and a special Palestinian embroidery and handcrafts stall.

 The formal part of the function has been Moderated by Dr Tamara Kayali and included speeches by the Director of the UN Information Center, Christopher Woodworth, the Dean of the Council of Arab Ambassadors Nabil Lakhal and the Palestinian Ambassador Izzat Abdulhadi. 

 All the speeches emphasized the the right of Palestinian  people for self determination and statehood and condemning the Israeli settlements as illegal by International Law and the main obstacle in front of the two state solution.

 The Palestinian community was so supportive to the function and has shown impressive attendance and presence.

 Thanks to all who have shown their solidarity for the Palestinian people including the International and Arab Diplomatic Corp, Australian Civil society organizations, Arab and Muslim communities and other prominent and public figures.
