Jerusalem and Palestine celebrated at Canberra Multicultural Festival 2018
The Embassy of Palestine in Australia/Canberra participated, on Saturday February 17, in the National Multicultural Festival 2018 organized and sponsored by the Australian government annually. The Festival celebrates Australia multiculturalism and diversity and allows for the various ethnicities to showcase and introduce their culture and heritage. The Festival is usually attended by more than 300000 visitors coming from different parts of Australia and is considered to be one of the most important cultural events in Australia.
Palestine Stall was unique and Vibrant. It highlighted the Palestinian history, culture and heritage of Jerusalem and its political and socio-economic significance for Palestinian people for centuries. “I am Jerusalem” was the main theme of the Palestine Stall which attracted the attention and interest of the Stall visitors. “I am Jerusalem” theme was also heavily supported by all Arab Embassies who have included our Poster of Jerusalem in their Stalls.
The Palestine Stall also showcased the traditional Palestinian embroidery and handcrafts in addition to selected items of popular national Palestinian food. The Participation of Palestine Fair Trade Australia in the Stall, through selling the Palestinian food and handcrafts, was impressive and sparked the attention of all stall visitors.
The Palestinian Dabkka was amazing and received a huge encouragement and support from the Australian audience and the Arab, Muslim and Palestinian communities. Thanks to the Canberra Palestinian community Dabkka Troup for their fantastic work.
Saturday, February 17 was an excellent Palestinian cultural day.
