The programme of work with the members of the Federal Parliament resumed in 2015. The Ambassador of the State of Palestine Mr. Izzat Abdulhadi met with a number of MPs and senators in Parliament to discuss the political situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, particularly the root causes of the current wave of violence and the continued Israeli Occupation and oppressive practices against the Palestinian people. Repeated systematic violence is used and still being employed by the Occupying power against the Palestinian people, especially the continuing settlement activity and continued violations of religious rights of the Palestinians in the Haram Al-Sharif area.

In this context, on the 11th of November the Ambassador of the State of Palestine H.E Izzat Abdulhadi met with members of the Joint Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade in the Federal Parliament where he briefed them on the latest political developments and obstacles placed by Israel to block the Two-State solution. The Palestinian Ambassador also presented the current Palestinian strategy and in particular the ‘Internationalization of the Question of Palestine' by approaching the United Nations and its institutions as well as adopting a non-violent approach to struggle by continuing to build the institutions of a Palestinian State.

The Ambassador also pointed out the importance of the Australian position, especially the importance of recognizing a Palestinian State and voting in favour of the resolutions concerning Palestine in the United Nations General Assembly.
