During late February, Ambassador Abdulhadi paid a five-day official visit to the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste.

The Ambassador attended two receptions for the accredited diplomatic corps, during one of which he was pleasantly surprised to hear the President, HE Francisco Guterres, mention in his official address Timor-Leste’s firm and long-standing support for Palestinian statehood.

Ambassador Abdulhadi had the further pleasure of meeting with the country’s foreign affairs and agriculture ministers, civil society representatives, Catholic Church leaders, as well as the national parliament’s president.

The trip saw a number of important outcomes achieved, including the furthering of bilateral consultations, inaugural development co-operation within the South-to-South model, the establishment of a parliamentary friendship group, and, in partnership with various civil society and religious groups, a fledgling advocacy network.
