The General Delegation of Palestine was proud to participate once again in the National Multicultural Festival in Canberra, a vibrant annual celebration of cultural diversity in Australia.

Palestine’s presence at the festival held particular significance this year, especially following the Australian Government’s recent recognition of the State of Palestine, and at a time when the Palestinian people continue to endure immense suffering under Israel’s ongoing illegal occupation and genocidal war.

This year, the Embassy stall highlighted the Right to Education, a fundamental right which remains under attack across occupied Palestine. Through visual materials (see below) and meaningful conversations with visitors, the stall shed light on the lived realities of Palestinian children and Palestine’s proud culture of learning – reaffirming the fact that education is not only a basic human right, but also a critical source of resilience, dignity, progress, and hope for the future.

Alongside this important message, the stall showcased Palestine’s rich history, cultural heritage, traditions, and folklore, while affirming the enduring strength, dignity, steadfastness, and resilience of the Palestinian people.

Festival attendees were treated to incredible Dabke (by Ataba Dabke) and captivating classical music performances by members of the Palestinian community, which perfectly showcased the richness of Palestinian artistic traditions. Visitors also enjoyed the beautiful fair trade handicraft items available at Palestine Fair Trade Australia's stall, while the Taste of Palestine food stall was warmly welcomed by those eager to experience authentic Palestinian cuisine and hospitality.

We were deeply encouraged by the overwhelming interest, thoughtful engagement, solidarity, and support shown by the Australian public at this meaningful event.

We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who stopped by, and we look forward to welcoming you to our stall again next year in 2027.
