Palestinian Foreign Ministry: Israel’s Proposed Death-Penalty Law Is a War Crime
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the State of Palestine condemns, in the strongest terms, the draft legislative bill approved by the Israeli Knesset in its initial reading on Monday (3 November 2025), which imposes the death penalty on Palestinian prisoners.
The Ministry affirms that the Israeli draft legislative bill to impose the death penalty on Palestinian detainees is the latest manifestation of Israel’s deepening extremism and criminality against the Palestinian people.
The Ministry stresses that the Israeli judicial system and the Knesset serve merely as additional tools of the Israeli occupation to legitimize its crimes and guarantee impunity. The proposed death-penalty law amounts to a decision authorizing extrajudicial executions, is a clear declaration of intent to commit yet another war crime against the Palestinian people, and itself constitutes a blatant violation of all international conventions and norms, as well as international law, including the four Geneva Conventions.
The Ministry affirms that the Palestinian people and their leadership will confront this extremely alarming bill through all available legal and political means. It warns that, if this law is adopted and the international community fails to take concrete action to hold the Israeli state accountable, such inaction will be a stain on the conscience of humanity and an affront to justice.
The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates calls on the international community and legal institutions, including in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand, to take immediate concrete measures to oppose this alarming legislative proposal being pursued by the Israeli Knesset, and to activate mechanisms of accountability and justice.
الخارجية: قانون اعدام الاسرى جريمة حرب واستفحال للتطرف الاسرائيلي برقابة عالمية.
تؤكد وزارة الخارجية والمغتربين بأن مشروع قانون اعدام الاسرى الفلسطينيين ما هو الا شكلا جديدا من استفحال التطرف والاجرام الاسرائيلي ضد الشعب الفلسطيني.
واشارت الى ان النظام القضائي الاسرائيلي، وما يسمى بالكنيست ما هي الا ادوات إضافية للاحتلال لتشريع الجرائم، والافلات من العقاب، وتؤكد بذلك ان قانون اعدام الاسرى هو قرار باعدام ميداني خارج نطاق القانون ونوايا لارتكاب جريمة تضاف الى جرائم الابادة الجماعية التي ارتكبت في قطاع غزة وتمتد اليوم للضفة الغربية بما فيها القدس، وتلقي بظلالها على الاسرى.
وتدين وزارة الخارجية والمغتربين بشدة هذا المشروع الذي أقرّه الكنيست الإسرائيلي اليوم بالقراءة الأولى، والقاضي بفرض عقوبة الإعدام الإلزامية على الأسرى الفلسطينيين.
وترى الوزارة في هذا المشروع خطوة خطيرة تهدف إلى استمرار الإبادة والتطهير العرقي بمظهر من الشرعية، وهو إعلان رسمي عن ارتكاب جرائم حرب وجرائم ضد الانسانية بتشريع من الكنيست.
وتشدد الخارجية إن هذا القانون المقترح يفضح مسار التطرف العنصري والفاشية داخل الإطار القانوني الإسرائيلي، رغم انه انتهاك واضح لكل الاتفاقيات والاعراف الدولية والقانون الدولي بما فيه اتفاقيات جنيف الاربعة.
وتؤكد الوزارة أن الشعب الفلسطيني وقيادته سيواجه هذا المشروع بكافة الوسائل القانونية والسياسية، وأن أي إقرار لهذا القانون دون اتخاذ الدول خطوات عملية لمحاسبة كل من اقره او اقترحه او صوت له، سيكون وصمة عار على جبين الإنسانية وتواطؤ في جرائم الاعدام خارج نطاق القانون.
وتدعو وزارة الخارجية والمغتربين المجتمع الدولي والمؤسسات القانونية للتحرك فورًا لتسليط الضوء على هذا المسار الخطير الذي تتبعه دولة الاحتلال، وضرورة مجابهته، وتفعيل ادوات المساءلة والمحاسبة ووضع اعضاء الكنسيت الذين يدعمون هذا التوجه على لوائح الارهاب، ومقاطعتهم ومقاطعة هذه المؤسسة العنصرية.
