DAY 661: ISRAEL'S ONGOING GENOCIDE, STARVATION, AND FORCED DISPLACEMENT OF PALESTINIANS IN GAZA

Israel, the occupying Power, continues to bombard, displace, and starve Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. Gaza has entered a severe phase of man-made famine and widespread starvation affecting everyone, from infants and children to journalists, aid workers, and doctors. International organizations say that about one-third of Gaza's 2.1 million citizens are suffering days without food.

Hospitals, already overwhelmed and mostly devastated, are experiencing a sharp rise in cases of severe malnutrition and outright starvation. Critical shortages of food, safe water, and medicine have left nearly every Gazan in a state of acute food insecurity, with almost 100,000 women and children urgently needing malnutrition treatment.

Despite international calls from human rights groups, organizations, and countries demanding an end to Israel's genocide and siege on Gaza and to allow the entry and flow of urgently needed humanitarian aid through a UN-led mechanism, Netanyahu stated yesterday that Israel will only permit "the entry of minimal humanitarian supplies" into the Gaza Strip.

So far, medical sources have confirmed the death of 134 Palestinians from starvation, including 88 children.

At the aid distribution centers of the Gaza "Humanitarian" Foundation, the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) have continued to target starving Palestinians seeking aid, killing at least 1,132 Palestinians and wounding more than 7,520 others since the foundation began operations on 27 May 2025.

Moreover, Palestinians in Gaza remain confined to "ever-shrinking spaces," with 88% of the Gaza Strip currently designated as an Israeli military zone or subject to displacement orders.

PALESTINIANS CALL ON THE UN TO DECLARE GAZA A FAMINE ZONE

The Independent Commission for Human Rights (ICHR), Palestinian human rights organizations, and civil society groups have called on the United Nations to "declare the Gaza Strip a famine zone, along with the resulting legal, humanitarian, and political implications."

The organizations strongly rejected engaging with the Gaza "Humanitarian" Foundation, whose centers are death traps.

ICHR Commissioner General, Issam Arouri, stated, "The policy of systematic starvation has entered a phase of birth prevention and physical annihilation, which is a new stage of the ongoing genocide in Gaza for over 21 months.”

GAZA'S EYE HOSPITAL: 1,200 NEW CASES OF COMPLETE OR PARTIAL VISION LOSS

Dr. Abdel Salam Sabah, the Director of Gaza's Eye Hospital, reported nearly 1,200 new cases of partial or complete vision loss in Gaza City and Al-Nasr neighborhood over the past two weeks. He stated that about 1,500 cases of total or partial blindness have been documented, resulting from direct eye injuries or progressive vision decline due to worsened chronic illnesses caused by inadequate medical care. He warned that 4,000 to 5,000 patients, who previously regularly visited the hospital, now lack follow-up or treatment, risking serious vision loss. Furthermore, he noted that severe malnutrition weakens the optic nerves, which can lead to progressive or permanent vision impairment, especially in diabetic patients.

THE ISRAELI KNESSET VOTES FOR "SOVEREIGNTY" OVER THE WEST BANK

Last Wednesday, the Israeli Knesset voted on a statement expressing official support for imposing "Israeli sovereignty" over the occupied West Bank. This vote took place at the end of the last session before the Knesset's summer recess.

The decision, approved by 71 members with only 13 voting against, reflects the Israeli right's plan to formalize Israel's de facto annexation of the occupied West Bank through legislative measures.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said the decision "is proof of the failure of any international wagers on Israel’s willingness to engage with the two-State solution." The Ministry added that the international community is now required "to impose peace on the occupying power in accordance with international legitimacy and UN resolutions."

Moreover, in a related development, President Emmanuel Macron announced that France will recognize the State of Palestine during the United Nations General Assembly session in September.

ISRAEL ADVANCES 25 NEW MASTER PLANS TO EXPAND SETTLEMENTS

The Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission stated that during July 2025, the occupation authorities advanced 25 master plans to expand Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank.

The head of the commission, Muayyad Shaaban, said this rapid progress "is part of a race against time to impose facts on the ground" in occupied Palestine. He noted that the reviewed plans resulted in the submission of 10 master plans (involving 586 colonial units) for future approval, and the approval of 15 new plans (involving 899 new colonial units).

In a recent development, the occupation authorities have also approved three major plans related to the "Ma'ale Adumim" settlement, which is built on Palestinian lands in occupied Jerusalem.

ISRAEL'S CONTINUED AGGRESSION AGAINST THE NORTHERN WEST BANK

The occupation's aggression has persisted for 189 days against Jenin and its refugee camp, 183 days against Tulkarem and its refugee camp, and 170 days against the Nour Shams refugee camp. Satellite images from UNOSAT on 21 May show that the IOF damaged or destroyed 43% of Jenin Camp, 35% of Nur Shams, and 14% of Tulkarem Camp.

In Focus

In its new report, the Palestinian Prisoner's Society (PPS) confirmed that, as of early July 2025, the total number of Palestinian detainees and prisoners reached around 10,800—the highest number recorded since the Second Intifada (excluding those held outside the prison system in Israeli military camps).

The PPS added that the Palestinian prisoners include 50 women, over 450 children, 3,629 administrative detainees (held without trial or charge), and 2,454 detainees from Gaza (check new harrowing testimonies), Lebanon, and Syria, also held without trial or charge, whom Israel describes as "unlawful combatants."

The report provided an overview of Israeli violations in the prisons of "Ofer," "Naqab," "Gilboa," and "Ganot," emphasizing that prisoners reported various violations and crimes committed against them, including starvation, increased use of rubber-coated bullets, sexual assaults (including rape), and the use of electric batons, clubs, and gas, often during night or dawn raids, as well as physical abuse and verbal insults.

The PPS confirmed that the Israeli occupation continues to deny access to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and imposes severe restrictions on visits.

Government Updates

• Speaking at the opening of the weekly Cabinet session held in Ramallah, Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Mustafa emphasized that the Government of Palestine is working on the ground to coordinate all efforts and resources to respond to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The Prime Minister underlined that "What we are facing is an actual famine (...) entire families are being annihilated, and those who have survived are now left without shelter, water, or food."

• During a high-level coordination meeting at the Government Operations Room for Emergency Interventions for Gaza, attended by members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of UN and humanitarian organizations, ministers, and members of the operations room, Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Mustafa emphasized the urgent need for the international community "to step up its support, provide greater humanitarian assistance, and exert stronger, sustained efforts to end the genocidal and starvation war, open all border crossings, and ensure the unimpeded entry of life-saving aid to meet the urgent and mounting humanitarian needs."

• In an interview with CNN's Christiane Amanpour, Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Mustafa stated that "Displacement, starvation, annexation, and occupation are a recipe for disaster," adding that "[t]his is not going to be good for anybody whatsoever." On the day after in Gaza, the Prime Minister underlined that the whole of the international community is united in its position that Gaza and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, are part of the State of Palestine and only the legitimate government of Palestine will be responsible.
