Weekly Report on Israeli Aggression

Government Communication Center: Weekly Report on Israeli Aggression
(WAFA) The Palestinian Government Communication Center issued its weekly report covering the intensified Israeli military aggression, mass displacement of Palestinians, and the worsening humanitarian conditions in Gaza and the West Bank.
Israel releases 7th batch of Palestinian prisoners
After delaying the release for over a week, Israeli occupation authorities released 641 prisoners, including 151 serving life and lengthy sentences. Since the ceasefire, 1,700 Palestinian prisoners have been released, including 700 serving life sentences.
Jenin under Israeli attack for 42 days
The IOF has intensified its 42-day brutal assault and siege on Jenin, carrying out deep excavation operations within the refugee camp, filling them with reinforced concrete and installing electric generators. These violations, alongside the barbed wire fencing of the camp, raise concerns about future goals. 27 Palestinians have been killed, while thousands remain forcibly displaced under tight siege.
Tulkarm under Israeli attack for 36 days
IOF have maintained their brutal assault and siege on Tulkarem city and refugee camp for 36 days and on Nour Shams refugee camp for 23 days, killing 13 Palestinians, including a child and two women—one of whom was eight months pregnant.
Seven Palestinian newborns freeze to death in Gaza
Freezing temperatures and Israel’s blockade on aid entry, including temporary housing units, have led to the deaths of seven newborns in just two weeks. Gaza’s healthcare system is collapsing, with 20 partially functioning hospitals, a severe lack of incubators, and 15 children reported dead from cold-related illnesses since winter began, with many more are still at risk.
Israel moves to annex West Bank settlements
A new Israeli bill proposes annexing West Bank settlements surrounding occupied Jerusalem, creating a so-called “Metropolitan Jerusalem,” under the ‘Greater Jerusalem’ Israeli scheme. The plan aims to expand Israeli sovereignty over the West Bank and permanently sever Palestinian territorial continuity. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned it as a major crime under international law.
Israel’s Gaza blockade worsens humanitarian crisis
The Government Operations Room for Emergency Interventions in Gaza warned of catastrophic consequences as Israel tightens its blockade on border crossings, preventing life-saving aid. It urged urgent and decisive action, stressing that the immediate and unimpeded entry of relief aid must be ensured. The Palestinian Foreign Ministry also condemned Israeli occupation's decision to block the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip and urged urgent international intervention to end Israel’s weaponization of starvation.
Since the onset of Israel's genocidal aggression on Gaza, the IOF has killed 48,348 Palestinians and wounded 111,761 more. Approximately 722 bodies have been recovered until 25 February since the ceasefire took effect.
In Hebron, the IOF shot and killed 12-year-old Ayman al-Hammouni. Ayman, together with his mother and brother, was visiting his grandfather and uncles in Jabal Jawhar, a part of Hebron under Israeli occupation's full control. During their last phone call, two days earlier, Ayman told his father, Nasser, that he had joined a local football team and planned to join a karate club. He told Nasser that he wanted to become a doctor or an engineer so that he could help him with the construction work that kept him away from their home.
A video analysis by the Guardian, based on footage from two security cameras, showed Ayman's last moments and how the IOF killed him.
The Guardian said, "So far this year, about two children a week have been killed, slightly over the average rate for 2024 when 93 children were killed," adding that the IOF has increased the intensity of its operations in the occupied West Bank since the Gaza ceasefire agreement in January of this year.
Human rights advocates are worried that the numbers might keep rising as the IOF applies "Gaza techniques" in the West Bank. This will result in "loosening further the 'rules of engagement' covering when a soldier is permitted to open fire." The Guardian said, "They are calling it “Gazafication” and it is becoming the new normal."
The Government Operations Room for Emergency Interventions in the Southern Governorates (Gaza Strip) warned yesterday about the rapidly worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza, caused by the continued closure of border crossings and the ongoing blockade on the entry of life-saving aid imposed by the Israeli occupation.
The Government Operations Room called upon the international community and all relevant human rights and humanitarian organizations to take urgent and decisive action, stressing that the immediate and unimpeded entry of relief aid must be ensured, along with the need for concerted international pressure to promptly open all border crossings and end the policy of collective punishment that harms innocent civilians.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned the Israeli government's decision to block the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip. It warned of the grave risks and catastrophic consequences of this decision, particularly amid the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza.
The Ministry called upon the international community and all relevant parties to uphold their responsibilities and take decisive action to compel the Israeli government to allow the unconditional entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza. It further demanded an end to the exploitation of Palestinian suffering and the weaponization of starvation for political gain.
