AMMAN, June 9 (Xinhua) -- Jordan summoned the Australian charge d'affaire in Amman to express concern over Australia's decision to stop referring to east Jerusalem as "occupied," Jordan's foreign ministry said on Monday.

The ministry said that Australia's decision contradicts all international resolutions that consider east Jerusalem as an integral part of the Palestinian territories which was occupied by Israel in 1967, state-run Petra news agency reported.

Earlier on Wednesday Australian Attorney General George Brandis said in a statement that east Jerusalem is not occupied, because it is part of a peace negotiations process.

Jordan oversees the al-Aqsa mosque and all other Muslim and Christian religious sites in east Jerusalem. The Palestinians want the east part of the city to be the capital of their future state, while Israel says undivided Jerusalem is its eternal capital.

Jordan always supports the creation of an independent Palestinian state based on the borders of 1967 with east Jerusalem as its capital.
