The Minister of Foreign Affairs condemns in the strongest terms the monstrous kidnapping, torture, and set on fire the body of 16 year-old Mohamad Abu Khudeir at the hands of a terrorist militia of Israeli settlers this Wednesday in occupied Jerusalem. The Palestinian government holds the Israeli government responsible for this atrocious crime and the impunity with which Israeli terrorists assault Palestinian civilians and property.
The heinous crime against Mohamad Abu Khaderis an extension of the escalating and unpunished crimes by terrorist Israeli militias, who have bullied and assaulted defenseless Palestinian civilians across the occupied West Bank, including Jerusalem, in plain sight and under the protection of the Israeli occupation army. Less than twenty-four hours before Mohamed’s murder, Israeli terrorists kidnapped and assaulted 8 year-old Musa Zaloum in Jerusalem, who was thankfully saved by Palestinian civilians in the neighborhood. Meanwhile, 9 year-old Sanabel Al-Tous remains in critical condition after an Israeli settler ran her over and threw the little girl in a pit next to the side of the road to die.
The Israeli government illegally funds and subsidizes the transfer of its own population to occupied Palestinian territory including, groups and leaders who publicly advocate racism and violence against Palestinians. This government, which has dedicated its efforts and financial resources to investing in the illegal settlement enterprise and the hateful groups they host, must answer to this barbarity and be compelled to stop its sponsoring of this racist terrorism.
Throughout the past years of escalating settler terrorism, the Israeli government has consistently demonstrated its tacit approval of these crimes by failing to hold any of the perpetrators accountable. Furthermore, the illegal acts of Israeli occupation soldiers, including the cold-blooded murder of children, including, 17 year-oldNadimNwarah and 16 year-old Mohammad Odeh, and most recently 15-year-old Mohammad Dudeen and 16-year-old Yousef Abu Zagha, provide settler terrorists with encouragement to commit crimes and murder with the full assurance of escaping accountability.
The Minister calls on all related international bodies, including the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights to investigate all crimes committed against our people and in particular our children, and publish their findings.
The international community, including the United Nations, now faces a clear and unequivocal test to its credibility and commitment to universal human rights. It must demonstrate, without embellishments, its outrage at these heinous crimes and its condemnation of those who fund, protect, and encourage these murderous gangs. They must demand for the perpetrators to be held accountable, including those inciting to violence. Additionally, the international community must list these groups on the list of terrorist organizations. Dr. Malki further asks the international community to provide protection to the Palestinian civilian population under Israeli occupation, which has proved by deeds that it treats Palestinian lives as being of lesser worth. The world cannot and must not encourage it or follow its lead.
