Press Release: Statements made by Israel's Minister of so-called National Security are abhorrent, genocidal, murderous
The statements made by Israel's Minister of so-called National Security this Friday in which he advocated for the killing of "not one or two, but dozens and hundreds and if need be, thousands" of Palestinians are abhorrent, genocidal, demonstrating clear criminal and murderous intent. These criminal pronouncements were made in the context of providing support and encouragement to Israeli settlers to commit yet more war crimes by overtaking yet more Palestinian land and creating more settlements.
Such odious comments reflect Israel's abject disregard to Palestinian lives and the pervasive culture of impunity in Israel with regard to Palestinian lives and rights. This impunity and criminal tendency are encouraged and bolstered by the failure of the international community to hold Israel accountable for its systematic and widespread egregious violations of international law and Palestinian rights.
Senior Israeli officials have repeatedly and shamelessly advocated for "concluding the Nakba" decisively and finally. The Israeli government is adopting policies and measures that serve this announced goal. It is committing all these crimes while enjoying cover, protection, and even pandering by key international players that amount to outright complicity. This irredeemably grave trend must be stopped. States must confront the fact of their role in the perpetuation of the situation of criminality, impunity, and continuous injustice that Israel has entrenched for decades. The ICC prosecutor must understand that Israel reads his continued silence, procrastination, and diminishing of the investigation into the situation in Palestine as a lack of interest.
It is time to confront this bitter truth and correct course. Israeli exceptionalism costs Palestinian lives.
