Press Release: PNG opening its embassy in Jerusalem is a violation of international law and an aggression against the Palestinian people
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates strongly condemns the opening of Papua New Guinea's embassy in occupied Jerusalem as a blatant violation of international law and clear United Nations resolutions regarding the legal and political status of the Holy City. This is also a violation of the just and legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
The Ministry considers this decision an act of hostility towards the Palestinian people and their rights, placing Papua New Guinea on the wrong side of history and significantly harming prospects for achieving a lasting and durable peace based on the principle of a two-state solution.
This step is an unacceptable normalization with the Israeli occupation and its crimes at a time when the occupying state is escalating its violations and aggression against the Palestinian people and their land, property, and holy sites.
The Ministry affirms that it will continue its work to confront the position of countries that have opened embassies in Jerusalem or relocated their embassies there by taking political, diplomatic, and legal measures to hold them accountable for their unjust aggression against our people and their rights.
The Ministry calls on the government of Papua New Guinea to immediately reverse this decision.

تدين وزارة الخارجية والمغتربين بشدة افتتاح بابوا غينيا الجديدة سفارة لها في القدس المحتلة، في انتهاك صارخ للقانون الدولي والقرارات الاممية الواضحة بشأن المدينة المقدسة ومكانتها القانونية والسياسية، وحقوق الشعب الفلسطيني العادلة والمشروعة.
تعتبر الوزارة أن هذا القرار عداوناً على الشعب الفلسطيني وحقوقه، وخطوة تجسد وقوف بابوا غينيا الجديدة الى الجانب الخاطئ من التاريخ تلحق ضرارا كبيرا بفرصة تحقيق السلام على أساس مبدأ حل الدولتين، وتطبيعاً مرفوضاً مع الاحتلال وجرائمه، وتحد صارخ لقرارات الأمم المتحدة ذات الصلة، في وقت تصعد به دولة الاحتلال من انتهاكاتها وعدوانها ضد الشعب الفلسطيني وأرض وطنه وممتلكاته ومقدساته.
تؤكد الوزارة أنها ستواصل العمل من أجل التصدي لمواقف الدول التي افتتحت سفارات لها بالقدس أو نقلت إليها سفاراتها، عبر اتخاذ الإجراءات السياسية والدبلوماسية والقانونية الكفيلة بملاحقتها على عدوانها غير المبرر ضد شعبنا وحقوقه، وتطالب حكومة بابوا غينيا الجديدة بالتراجع الفوري عن هذا القرار.
