Letter by the Permanent Observer of the State of Palestine to the United Nations on Two Years of Israel's Genocidal War and Siege on Gaza: While the rest of the world exerts all efforts to stop the bloodshed, Israel, the occupying Power, persists with its genocidal war against the Palestinian people in Gaza.

The State of Palestine affirms its readiness to engage positively and constructively with the United States and all parties in order to achieve peace, security, and stability for the peoples of the region.

President Mahmoud Abbas, addressing the 80th session of the UN General Assembly on 25 September (via video call after the US refused visas for Palestinian officials) stressed that “there will be no peace without justice, and no justice without Palestine’s liberation.”

President Mahmoud Abbas, speaking on behalf of the State of Palestine, reaffirmed the commitment of the Palestinian leadership to a comprehensive reform agenda that strengthens governance, transparency, and the rule of law, pledging to hold presidential and parliamentary elections. He said the New York Declaration affirmed that the war against the Palestinian people must end immediately and sustainably, stressing that “siege, starvation, and destruction cannot be a path to security.”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the State of Palestine welcomes and deeply commends the decision made by the UK, Canada, and Australia to recognize the State of Palestine: this bold and principled decision reflects a firm commitment to international law, as well as demonstrates a genuine dedication to ending the occupation and achieving lasting peace; ensuring security, stability, and prosperity for the region and the world at large.

One year after the adoption of the General Assembly resolution following the ICJ ruling on Palestine, UN experts urge States to comply with their obligations under international law, take concrete actions to stop Israel’s attacks against the Palestinians and end its unlawful occupation. To comply with the Advisory Opinion, the ICJ affirmed the need to cut ties with the unlawful occupation: "This means that sanctions cannot be avoided"

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the State of Palestine strongly condemns the Republic of Fiji’s move to officially open an embassy in occupied Jerusalem as an act of aggression against the Palestinian people, a flagrant violation of international law and relevant resolutions of international legitimacy, and a direct threat to prospects for implementing the two-state solution.

The General Delegation of Palestine in Canberra welcomes the positive voting by Australia, Aotearoa New Zealand, Timor-Leste, Solomon Islands, and the Marshall Islands, in favour of a General Assembly resolution to formally endorse the New York Declaration on the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution.

Israel has committed genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and Israel said in a new report today. The Commission urges Israel and all States to fulfil their legal obligations under international law to end the genocide and punish those responsible for it.
