For eighteen days, the world has watched Israel’s indiscriminate bombardment of the Gaza Strip, and for eighteen days the world has allowed the horror to carry on – with full and open support by some – against the besieged Palestinian civilians, allowing the death, destruction and trauma to reach catastrophic levels.

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemns in the strongest terms the devastating occupation war and the crimes of ethnic cleansing against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip. Israel has been escalating for 14 consecutive days, aiming to destroy the Gaza Strip and displace its inhabitants by subjecting everything in Gaza to daily bombardments, including churches, mosques, hospitals, schools, civilian homes, educational, academic, and cultural institutions, and media outlets. At the forefront is the brutal mass murder of defenceless civilians.

The cold-blooded massacre committed against hundreds of Palestinian civilians sheltering in the Baptist Hospital (Ahli Arabi Hospital) in Gaza City by Israeli occupation forces (IOF) will forever remain a stain on the conscience of humanity that has been witnessing the horrors committed against the Palestinian people without taking action to stop it.

Israel has cut off all water, electricity, fuel and food supplies to Gaza, disregarding the ICRC’s warnings that without electricity, hospitals risk turning into morgues. This war crime of massive proportions is now being compounded by Israel’s military orders calling to forcefully transfer 1.1 million Palestinians, including sick and wounded hospital patients, from northern Gaza. This flagrant attempt to depopulate and expel the Palestinian civilian population constitutes a grave breach of the 4th Geneva Convention and the Rome Statute.

The brazen acts of mass-killing, wanton destruction, and state terror being committed by Israel, the occupying power, against the civilian Palestinian population are nothing less than genocidal...

The World Health Organization warns that time is running out to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe if fuel and life-saving health and humanitarian supplies cannot be urgently delivered to the Gaza Strip amidst the complete blockade.
